“Smells like teen spirit”! “With the lights out it's less dangerous……” Wie kent deze legendarische woorden niet? Een tribute aan een band die de muziekindustrie op de kop zette en de grunge bekend maakte. De mysterieuze dood van zanger Kurt Cobain in 1994? Een symbool van de huidige generatie dat volgens velen verloren ging. Een ode aan Dave, Krist, Pat en Kurt, zij waren degene die de grunge bekend maakten!

De uit Horst afkomstige band Demolution is opgericht in september 2003 voor een eenmalig optreden. Dit werd zo'n succes dat de band besloot door te gaan. De band bestaat uit 3 leden: Rens Coenen (Dave!), Luc Verdellen (Krist!) en Richard Kleuskens (Kurt!).

Op 27 december 2003 speelt Demolution op het Undercoverfestival in Beek. De band wordt samen met nog 4 andere bands uit 35 demo's gekozen om te strijden om de titel: “Beste tributeband van Nederland 2003”. Het gaat hier dan om het 3e optreden als Nirvana tributeband en de band eindigt als 2e. Dan wordt een demo opgenomen met 4 Nirvana nummers en 3 eigen werken. Demolution doet vele optredens in binnen- en buitenland. In Friesland wordt de band gefilmd, wat vervolgens wordt uitgezonden op het nieuws bij “Omroep Friesland”. Demolution speelt samen met bands als “The Sheer”, “Face Tomorrow” , “Tacker (Erik Corton)”, "Green Lizard", "Heideroosjes", "Beef" en "Rosemary's Son". In November 2004 Demolution brengt de band een cd uit met allemaal eigen muziek. Deze cd heet "The Empire's Slave". De in Nederland bekende Egbert Derix speelt op een aantal nummers mee. De cd presentatie wordt gehouden in OJC Knor en is meteen een groot succes. De band doet een hoop radio interviews waaronder op L1. Binnen 5 maanden zijn alle 500 cd's verkocht. Twee maal stond de band op het grote podium van 013 met de wedstrijd "Clash of the Coverbands 2005". Live registraties van deze concerten worden door o.a. Syb van der Ploeg (De Kast) gemixt en gemasterd. Ook haald de band volop de Limburgse media. Kranten schrijven een aantal weken volop over de wedstrijd en Demolution en als hoogtepunt wordt de band gefilmt en geïnterviewd door L1 (Limburgse tv zender). Eind 2005 zet de band voor het eerst voet aan wal in Groot Brittanie. 2 weken lang tourt de band door dit land en doet optredens in o.a. London, Leeds, Leicester en Rhyl. Niet geheel onsuccesvol want de band reist in 2006 weer af naar de UK.

Inmiddels heeft de band een reputatie opgebouwd voor het slopen van drums en gitaren op het eind van de show, net zoals Nirvana deed.
